Why does the shutter turn back?

The motor monitors battery voltage continuously. If it drops below a critical threshold mid-movement, the electronics prefer to raise the curtain rather than leave it stuck halfway. Common causes: a dirty or shaded photovoltaic panel, a battery at the end of its life (5 to 8 years on average), or a long sunless spell.

Extending battery life

Clean the solar panel once or twice a year (dust, moss, leaves)
Check that no tree or roof element shades the sensor
Operate the shutter regularly, even in winter: full cycles keep the battery healthy
Avoid repeated operation during long overcast periods

Replacing the battery

The battery usually sits in the shutter's top casing, accessible after removing the panel. The job is done on the roof: if the window is hard to reach, entrust it to an equipped professional.
