First of all: secure the curtain
Shutter lowered to the ground or curtain propped: its weight must never rest on the motor during the work. Power is cut at the breaker and locked off.
The replacement steps
- Opening the box and noting the existing wiring (a photo is wise).
- Detaching the curtain: the fasteners linking curtain to tube are removed.
- Extracting the axle: the tube is lifted from its bearings, the failed motor slid out of the tube.
- Preparing the new motor: drive ring and crown matched to the tube diameter, identical or higher torque.
- Refitting: motor inserted, axle re-seated, curtain fasteners refixed.
- Wiring and adjustment: connection, rotation direction, limit-switch programming, full testing.

- Undersized torque: the new motor will wear as fast as the old one
- Approximate ring/tube adaptors: vibration and premature wear
